Women’s Softball Recap: The Hot Flashes, a new team in the 5 team Senior Women’s Softball League that plays its games at Sports At The Beach in Georgetown, started off with a bang, winning its first two games. Their next game was against another new team to the league, Shore Sharks, and the Hot Flashes won that slugfest 11-10. The Alley Cats came back in their second game to defeat the Delaware Diamonds 5-2. The Delaware Diamonds and the Shore Sharks settled for a 4-4 tie on opening night due to darkness. For the Diamonds Peggy Vann and Deb Dorris hit doubles and Darlene Mitchell banged out a triple. The Slammin’ 60s were idle on opening night, and then hosted a traveling Blue Chicks team the next Monday night. The game was tied at 2-2, thanks to the 60s batting of Joy Boone and Paula Klemm, and then the Blue Chicks found their bats and broke the game open for a 10-2 win. Senior Women’s Softball Games are played every Monday night at 6:00 at Sports at the Beach.
