2009National Senior Games in Palo Alto, California: If you qualified in Delaware or any other State Senior Games in 2008 and you want to compete at Nationals, your final deadline for registration with a late fee is April 15. Contact the DSO Office – 1-888-881-6128 or admin@delawareseniorolympics.org if you have any questions.

2009 Delaware Senior Games: The DSO Board of Directors and the Sports Coordinators are working now on the 2009 fall schedule, venues, program book, registration forms, etc. During a meeting at Dover Park on March 14, presentations were made by Board President Rich O’Shaughnessy, Board Member/Webmaster Robyn Kirby and Sports Coordinator Chairman Paul Gatti. Members in attendance were excited about about the direction DSO is taking. Sports Coordinators are also finding new ways to keep seniors involved in their particular sport all year, not just for the fall games. DSO Cyclist Jo Johnson competed in the 60-64 age group in the Tucson Senior Games in January. She received silver medals in the 5k and 10k time trials, and bronze medals in the 20k and 40k races.

The Eastern Shore Senior Games at Salisbury University are open to all men and women over 50 who live in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Registration remains open for the games that will take place April 23-25. Late registrations will be accepted until April 13. Events are aquatics, badminton, bowling, cycling, fitness testing, floor and foul shooting, golf, personal training, pump and run, table tennis, track and field, volleyball. Registration forms can be obtained online at http://www.salisbury.edu/seniorgames/ or by calling Dr. Carol Wood at 410-548-3256.

Women’s Senior Softball: Senior softball players will start practicing at Sports At The Beach on Monday, April 20 at 6 p.m. The 3 local teams are looking for new players. There are two 50+ teams and one 60+ team. Older players may play down on a younger team, but younger players may not play up on an older team. If you would like to join a women’s team this spring, please contact a team captain. Olde Tymers Softball League: There was a general organizational meeting at 7 p.m. on April 1 at the Bethany Beach Town Hall for men and women who are at least 55 years of age. For more information call Bo Wood, 945-1849.

The Senior Lo-Del Volleyball League has registered six women’s teams in the Eastern Shore Senior Games Volleyball Tournament to be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 in Maggs Gymnasium at Salisbury University.

2009 Family Fun & Fitness Day: Sat., May 16th at Killen’s Pond. All Delaware Senior Olympians, their spouses, children, grandchildren, friends, and all others interested in enjoying an entire day of fun with Delaware’s Senior Olympians are invited.
