2008 Delaware Senior Olympic Men's Volleyball Competition Results

Delaware Senior Olympic men's volleyball competition was held at AI duPont HS on Sunday, September 7, 2008. Eleven teams, with players ranging from 50 to 81 years old, played four matches each, attempting to qualify for the 2009 National Senior Games to be held in Palo Alto, CA next August. (All Gold & Silver medal winning teams qualified)
Split into two groups, the 'younger' group (50 to 60+) had 6 teams. In the 50+ age group John Hintz's Delaware Spike team took the Gold, beating both of the other 50+ teams and splitting their other 2 matches. Mike Ingram's Court Jesters won the Silver, splitting with the other 50+ teams and losing their other 2 matches, while Wayne Duncan's Nomadic Spikers lost to both of the other 50+ teams to earn Bronze while spitting their other 2 matches.

The sole 55+ team, Richard Markland's Delaware Diamonds, won all 4 matches in their pool, earning the 55+ Gold medal.
Between the two 60+ teams, Wayne Minger's Maryland Red team beat Bob Swain's Highlanders to earn 60+ Gold and won 1 of 3 of their other matches. The Highlanders earned Silver, also winning 1 of their 3 other matches.
In the 'mature' group there were 5 teams from 65+ to 75+. Denny Moore's MAC 65s earned Gold by winning all 4 matches while Steve Bilebof's Spike Force 65s won Silver splitting their matches 2 & 2.
In the 70+ division, Phil Klabunde's Spike Force 70s earned Gold by winning 3 of 4 matches, while Bob Shellenbarger's Delaware Gold got Silver at 0 & 4. Rich Stillman's Fairfield Seniors earned Gold in the 75+ age group, going 1 & 3 in their matches.
