David Slack was born in Easton, PA, raised in Phillipsburg, N.J, and served in the USAF from 1959 thru 1966,

David married Betty Shull in 1959 and celebrated 51 years together in 2010. David and Betty raised two boys Kevin & Edward. They have 4 grandchildren.
He got into Archery in the mid nineteen nineties -- thought it would be a good thing to keep him active after retirement. He tried 3D Archery and then Field Archery and then FITA Archery -- enjoyed them all.
David became the DSO Archery Sport Coordinator in 2007.
Archery is a game that can be pursued with a traditional bow (stick and string), recurve bow (bent stick and string), or a compound bow (lots of fiberglass and metal and wheels).
Each of these devices is operated by nocking an arrow to the string, pulling the string from the bow and releasing the string. Several mechanisms are used to release the string, fingers and mechanical releases(caliper and back tension).
